2024 Summer Intensive

June 17 - July 26, 2024 | For ages 11 – 22

Oklahoma City Ballet’s Summer Intensive immerses students in a rigorous professional training program, focusing on improving technique and enhancing individual artistry. The curriculum includes classes in ballet technique, pointe, men’s technique, variations, pas de deux, contemporary pas de deux, character dance, jazz technique, modern technique, contemporary, improv, Pilates, and conditioning.  Classes are taught by renowned Oklahoma City Ballet Artistic staff and Yvonne Chouteau School faculty.

Oklahoma City Ballet’s Summer Intensive is open to students who are 11 to 22 years old as of June 1. Acceptance to the program is by audition only. Female students must have one complete year of pointe training to attend. Students may attend a three or six-week session. Company Apprentices, OKCB II, Trainees, and Day Program students are selected from our summer intensive program (attendance is mandatory to be considered).

If you receive a message that the registration is full, please email summerintensive@okcballet.com to be placed on our waiting list.

Video Audition Information

Women dancers should wear solid-colored leotard and pink tights (or tights complementary to skin tone). Men dancers should wear a fitted white shirt and solid-colored tights.

Barre work (one side only)
Plié, Tendu, Dégagé, Ronde de jambe, Fondu, Grand Battement
Center work (Dancers en pointe - age 16+)
Adagio, Pirouette (en dehors & en dedans), Petit allegro, Grand Allegro
Pointe exercises (Beginner students - May be performed at barre)
Relevé, Échappé, Passé, Pirouette
Men’s Exercises:
Tour en l’air, Tours a la seconde, Entrechat

Summer Intensive students from outside the greater Oklahoma City area will be housed in the University Suites at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included in the housing package.

Transportation will be provided between housing and the Oklahoma City Ballet facilities.

The Activities Package will be available for purchase with registration.

Past activities have included trips to the Oklahoma City Zoo, The Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Myriad Gardens, Science Museum Oklahoma, First Americans Museum, and swimming at Pelican Bay.

Need-based Scholarship

Oklahoma City Ballet offers a limited number of Need-based tuition scholarships to our summer intensive students. Scholarships will be preferentially offered to students attending the entire six-week program.

Applications must be requested from the Summer Intensive Coordinator and are not considered until the student has registered for the Summer Intensive with a non-refundable tuition deposit of $250.

Need-based scholarships cover only a portion of tuition.

Applications without supporting tax documentation materials will not be reviewed.
